Just Decide

"If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it" -William Arthur Ward

"If people aren't laughing at your dreams, then you're not dreaming big enough" -Grayson Marshall

"Make a choice. You just decide what its gonna be, who you're gonna be, how you're gonna do it. Just Decide" -Will Smith

It really is possible for people to shape their lives out of their thoughts. Have you ever noticed that as soon as the thought "I think I'm getting sick" pops into your head almost instantly your body feels week? Or how you all of a sudden feel your throat getting a little sore. Oh and forget about it if someone else validates that thought for you with a hand to your forehead and a "you do feel a little warm". From that moment on not only has your mind been convinced but your body now believes this too. All from one little thought.

That's how powerful our thoughts can be. Now think about if we put that kind of persuasion into our thoughts regarding our dreams or our passions. Things would no longer be impossible.

Everybody...

It's starting to become an early morning thing where the lobby area here at CrossFit Central turns into an 80's flashback. This can include anything from Michael Jackson, to the Bee Gees and shh.. New Kids on the Block. I know, I know but you should see people's reactions. Smiles and reminiscing of the good ol' days about concerts and dances that were attended. It's all in good fun though. So this post is for the early morning crew who get's to enjoy the random music that gets played and to the people who now wish to become apart of the early morning crew. The good thing is this class has no cap to it, so you don't have to worry about it selling out!

Good Friday to all and Enjoy the weekend!

Do you smell what the Rock is Cooking?

"Your attitude is like the aroma of your heart, if your attitude stinks, it means your hearts not right"

"If you just make a choice... just decide what its gonna be, who you're gonna be, how you're gonna do it. Just Decide." -Will Smith

I'm on a quote kick this week. Sometimes they just pop in my head and then will not go away! Lucky for you one of the quotes stuck in my head has a movie clip to go along with it. Very Powerful. So, Just make a choice...

To read or not to read

"Growth means change & change involves risk, stepping from the known to the unknown"
-unknown

Every now and again i go through these stages where all i want to do is read. I'll read book after book after book and then it just stops and no matter how interesting the book may be i just can't get into it.

So as of right now I'm on a reading kick... I just finished reading the book The Shack by William P. Young. I have to say my natural reaction once i finished reading the book was that i had to tell everyone about it. I wanted everyone to read this book, in my opinion it was that good. Then i started to think how many times had someone tried to push some book they just finished reading on me? Well if they're anything like I am when I finish reading a book, all the time. Will I read it? Well maybe not then and there but there's a good possibility that i'll get around to it. Depending on the book of course. If its a "Twilight" book probably not.

When it comes to books and movies, titles, quotes and characters just stick in my head. It doesn't matter if I've only seen the movie or read the book once these things just stay there...in my brain. Sometimes its a good thing other times not so good because i'll go on quoting movies and sometimes just to myself. Makes for interesting stares though. My whole point to this is that you can't really make someone read a book. They have to be in the mood to read or simply just want to read. There's a quote from the movie The Hurricane that popped into my head when I stumbled upon this little revelation "sometimes we don't pick the books we read, they pick us". Well said. At the time i thought it was a funny little joke. Like a book was just going to fall at my feet while I was walking through Barnes & Noble or something. Yeah probably not gonna happen.

I just now finished reading this book and I've had friends trying to get me to read this book for over a year. Just wasn't the right time, not yet. After reading this book it makes sense to me why I waited until now to read it. Now I'm going to do my best not to be that guy who's pushing another book on you to read. But I will say this, when you've got some questions floating around in your head that you just can't seem to get answers to, or you find yourself in a rut and can't seem to get out of it keep this book in mind.

Media Team

Taking Pictures, editing, producing and making videos started out as just a hobby. Well, what was once a hobby is now a career move. Being in this field you look at commercials, pictures, interviews in a whole different light. You start putting songs with workouts and listening to questions that people ask, so that you can find out what people want to know. I get a chance to be in contact with tons of creative and open minded people on a daily basis... from clients, to coaches, to some pretty BA media guys. Every day is a learning day....

A few of the CFC videos i've made.

An awesome video that Elliot made... this is the direction that i would like my skills to head in! Thanks for all the Help E.

Who are you Fighting for?

I've seen this video a couple of times and every time I see it, it gives me chills. Winter Vinecki a 9 year old from Michigan decided that she was going to complete a triathlon to raise money for her dad's fight against prostate cancer. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/122156.php

Winter Vinecki did what she could to fight for her dad. Crossfit Central and the rest of Austin Crossfit Affiliates are teaming up to do our part to fight prostate cancer. On September 26th the Workout Fight Gone Bad will be showcased and the money raised will go towards the fight of Prostate Cancer and the Wounded Warrior Project. We all have a part to play in this fight...Who are you fighting for?

Be Water!

Inspiration comes from all sorts of different sources; quotes, movies, books, people or from your own thoughts. I often wonder what is it that motivates people. What is it that makes people want to get up and run at 5:30 in the morning or come to a crossfit workout that early in the morning. Why do people put themsleves through these grueling workouts? So then i started to think a little bit about this and had to ask myself this very question. What is it that movitivates me?

Before just about every workout i get this crazy butterfly in my stomach feeling. The kind of feeling you get when you're 16 and going on your first date. For guys its picking the girls up at her parents house and having to meet her dad. For girls... well i'm not really too sure what it is for girls. I'll have to get back to you on that one. Either way, before the workout i get nervous and anxious at the same time. For a split second the workout flashes in my mind and I ask myself what am I doing? And then 3,2,1 GOOO! No more time to think just go!

At the end of a workout lying on the floor, lightheaded, out of breath and with my body screaming at me "what the heck did you do that for" that's when it all makes sense to me. I don't workout for the pleasure of working out. Who would put themselves through this and consider it pleasure? I definately don't do these workouts because i want to stare at myself in the mirror either. No, I do these workouts simply because I can. Because when people see these workouts we do and what we put ourselves through they think we're nuts! Because not very long after a workout i think to myself "i could have gotten one more round in, or one more set in."

My motivation is simply being the best I can be at everything I do! I don't have to prove anything to anyone except myself. I know if I've pushed myself to the limits or not. So many thoughts go through people's heads when they're at globo gyms. Maybe even at crossfit gyms. "Am I doing this right?" "Are people staring at me?" "Do i belong here?" "I don't think i can finish this workout!" Don't think just go! "Be Water!"
